As we all know, the Calgary Stampede has been cancelled this year (2020) for the first time in 100 years. It has already been a very bizarre year, but to have our beloved Stampede cancelled was a tough pill to swallow for our city. Finding other ways to celebrate and keeping safe while doing so is taking some imagination. Video’s and Skyping has become a way to stay connected. Being able to see your family and friends has given us a sense of togetherness far more than just a telephone conversation. So, when missing those Stampede breakfasts this year, plan with your loved ones to all do breakfast at the same time and put on your cowboy hats and serve up them pancakes!
Another great way to safely get together this year, is to have a social distancing block party. Get dressed up, BBQ, serve drinks, and even have a live band. We can keep our distance while still enjoying the outdoors and our community.
Just a couple of ideas to fill the void of the activities that will be missed during the Stampede.
Stay safe and enjoy your July!
